Real Simple Magazine has put together the top 50 All-Time Favorite Uses for Old Things list. It’s pretty brilliant! Here are some of my favorites. Think before you trash!

Keep those giveaway shower caps at hotels to use as the perfect wrapper for shoes when traveling, preventing them from dirtying clothes packed in your suitcase.

A hard plastic soap case is the perfect size to protect a point-and-shoot camera stashed in a carry-on bag.

Assemble a spray-cleaner arsenal by installing a rod in the closet or underneath the sink and then hooking the bottles onto it by their triggers.

Shower curtain hooks provide sturdy storage for heavier items like purses and totes.
Real Simple also has a list of new uses for everyday items. Here are a few from the large list!
1. Olive Oil:
-Shine stainless steel.
-Prevent wax from sticking to a candle holder.
-Unstick a zipper.
-Silence squeaky doors.
2. Dryer Sheets:
-Freshen stinky shoes.
- Remove static from clothing.
-Use in drawers as sachets.
-Prevent thread from tangling when sewing: Run a threaded needle through a dryer sheet right before you begin handiwork.
3. Coffee Filters:
-Diffuse the flash on a camera by placing filter over the flash.
-Use as covering over foods in the microwave.
-Clean windows because they have no lint residue.
4. Vinegar:
-Make wool sweaters fluffy again by running a couple of capfuls during the rinse cycle for an extra soft feel.
- Clean and sanitize your coffeemaker and dishwasher.
